SIEM Detection Engineering and Alert Quality Improvement
Engineered detection content and monitoring workflows that improved signal quality, reduced alert fatigue, and strengthened analyst usability in a production banking environment.
January 12, 2026
The Problem
Detection coverage was fragmented and false positives were consuming analyst time, making it harder to escalate meaningful threats and report useful operational insight.
The Approach
Built more than 45 custom correlation rules across Seceon AI SIEM, ArcSight, and Securonix; mapped detections to MITRE ATT&CK; and tuned content around analyst workflow, management reporting, and practical response use cases.
Key Results
- 45+Correlation rules — Custom content aligned to real monitoring objectives
- -30%False positives — Cleaner detections for analysts and leadership reporting
- -25%Mean time to detect — Sharper rule design and monitoring visibility
The Impact
The result was stronger signal quality, clearer monitoring coverage, and improved trust in the SOC’s ability to identify and act on meaningful security events.
Implementation & Architecture
This case study reflects a practical detection engineering programme where content quality, telemetry normalization, and analyst usability mattered as much as the SIEM platform itself.
